Scholastic Art Awards

My visit to the Scholastic Art show at the Visual Arts Center was a thought-provoking experience. I noticed a recurring theme of centralized figures in most pieces, suggesting a preference for representational art this year. What stood out to me were the creative explorations of proportion and perspective, along with the prevalent use of mixed media, particularly collage and embroidery alongside traditional drawing and painting mediums. Many artworks featured oceanic motifs and sea creatures, it was so cool to see the recurring theme with many different intentions and mediums. I was particularly impressed by the colored pencil drawings and expressive brushwork in paintings. Interestingly, successful pieces tended to prioritize simplicity over complexity, emphasizing clarity of communication. Overall, the exhibition showcased a diverse range of artistic voices and techniques, leaving a lasting impression on me.
