Dan Kanach Artist Lecture

The lecture by Dan Kanach offered a thorough exploration of the animation, motion graphics, and video production process. Beginning with the scripting phase, Kanach highlighted the unique challenge of constructing every scene in animated videos, emphasizing the need for a finalized script to manage production costs effectively. The significance of storyboarding was talked about as a pre-visualization tool, ensuring alignment between animators and clients and minimizing the risk of revisions, which I could compare to the planning sketches or armatures ive done in my art. On the subject of animation production, Kanach detailed the diverse processes, emphasizing the meticulous crafting of elements in 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animations. The lecture also offered insights into animation post-production, stressing the importance of an edited video with voiceover and the pivotal role of soundscapes and music in shaping the final project. Overall, the lecture gave me a better understanding of the all intricacies and nuances within the animation and video production industry.
